According to the Spanish news source, which was published on January 6, the Spanish prodigy is well-liked by the Everton managers at Goodison Park. If Diao decides to leave Betis this month, a bid of about €30 million (£25.8 million) will be required to sign him.

A roadblock to any such additions, meanwhile, has developed in the form of Diao’s £25 million price tag, which is currently “unthinkable” for Everton to match given their ongoing involvement in the 777 Partners sale process, which is still pending Premier League permission.

The Spaniard’s skillset as an attacking force could significantly bolster the Toffees’ offensive capabilities, providing creativity and goal-scoring prowess from the wings that Sean Dyche so desperately needs.

Goodison Park will not be able to add any significant players until the summer of 2024, at which point money will be given to complete the transfer.
Diao’s breakthrough year in 2023 and his international status for Spain’s U21 squad highlight his bright future and demonstrate his first-team caliber of play.

When you consider that the only senior out-and-out wingers Everton currently have are Dwight McNeil and loanees Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma, Dyche is woefully short when compared to some of his relegation rivals.

It would be a massive difference maker if the Toffees could secure another this January, but naturally, Everton is still facing financial strain and the 777 Partners acquisition process is still hanging over their heads at Goodison.

Although Diao seems like an appealing option, Everton and even the biggest teams in the country would find it difficult to spend upwards of £25 million. As a result, Dyche and Kevin Thelwell will have to wait until the summer, when more information is likely to become available, to spend the money and rebuild the team where it is needed.
