Erik Jones state 5-major reason on social media for his departure from the Legacy Motor Club……
Legacy Motor Club is a full-time competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series, co-owned by Maury Gallagher and Jimmie Johnson. The team runs two full-time cars: the No. 42 Chevrolet driven by Noah Gragson and the No. 43 Chevrolet driven by Erik Jones. Additionally, they have a part-time entry, the No. 84 Chevrolet, for Johnson’s limited races.
For the past 75 years, the Petty family name has been a staple in NASCAR, spanning four generations. Richard Petty, serving as Team Ambassador, earned the title “The King” with 200 wins and seven NASCAR Cup Series championships, alongside Hall of Fame crew chief Dale Inman. GMS Racing entered the NASCAR Cup Series in 2021 and later merged with Richard Petty Motorsports to form Petty GMS.
In 2023, the team was rebranded as LEGACY MOTOR CLUB following the addition of Johnson, another seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, to the ownership group. Inspired by traditional car clubs, LEGACY M.C. aims to be an inclusive community for racing enthusiasts, fostering a team-oriented environment to ensure long-term success. Their vision is to honour their rich history while embracing the future of the sport with some of today’s top drivers.
LEGACY M.C. operates in conjunction with GMS Racing, which competes with three full-time entries in the NASCAR Truck Series. Since its inception in 2012, GMS Racing, led by Gallagher and Team President Mike Beam, has built a successful organisation, winning the 2016 and 2020 NASCAR Truck Series championships, the 2015 ARCA Racing Series championship, and the 2019 & 2020 ARCA East championships, amassing over 65 victories across six national racing series.
