Steelers Sign Former Ravens Reserve LB James Harrison, Next?
The Baltimore Ravens are not in the mood to watch this particular sequel. Jeremiah Moon, a former linebacker for the Ravens, was signed by the rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday for a one-year contract worth $915,000. Moon spent the previous two seasons as a member of the Ravens’ roster, but he was cut while the club was preparing for the postseason. Shortly after, Pittsburgh claimed him off waivers, and as of right now, he is officially under contract with an exclusive rights deal for the 2024 season.

Moon, a Florida native who went undrafted, made 12 tackles in eight games for Baltimore the previous season. When the Ravens benched their starters the last weekend of the regular season—ironically, against the Steelers—he assumed a more prominent role. In a 17-10 victory over Pittsburgh, Moon recorded four tackles and a forced fumble, which all but guaranteed a postseason berth. Moon contributed to Baltimore’s remarkable preseason success in the latter stages of the summer, finishing with 14 tackles and 1.5 sacks in six games.

Though Moon’s exit won’t necessarily alter the landscape of the AFC North, there are unavoidable parallels with the life of Steelers star and Baltimore haunter James Harrison. Harrison never participated in a regular season game with the Ravens, but he did represent the team in 2004 while he was with NFL Europe’s Rhein Fire. Harrison went on to become one of the most accomplished names in the Steelers’ illustrious defensive history. Time will tell whether Moon ends up making history again.
