Bristol Rovers have agreed that defender Mark Hughes can leave the club.
The club can confirm that the 35-year-old is set to join League One side Plymouth Argyle in a coaching capacity.
Hughes links up again with former team-mate – and current Argyle boss – Steven Schumacher and makes the move to Home Park to join as first-team coach.
Having joined The Gas in July 2021, Hughes played six times in an injury-hit spell. His final appearance came at Hartlepool in September last year.
Whilst unfortunate to have spent an extended period inured at Rovers, Hughes has already started his transition into coaching by getting experience under first-team manager Joey Barton.
We would like to thank Mark for his contribution at Rovers and wish him well in his future coaching career
