The Eagles’ Monday night setback keeps the Cowboys in the running for the NFC East championship.
It was and still is tremendously disheartening that the Dallas Cowboys lost on Sunday.
However, in the NFL, things can change quickly, and on Monday night, optimism was restored.
We ought to give the Seattle Seahawks, Drew Lock, and Dallas native Jaxon Smith-Njigba Christmas presents for eliminating the opposition and maintaining tight competition in the NFC East. The Seattle Seahawks have triumphed!
It’s understandable that a large number of us spent Monday thinking the Eagles will win in Seattle and essentially clinch the NFC East. That is not going to take place.
The Dallas Cowboys continue to lead the division right now.
Dallas Cowboys… 10–4.
Eagles of Philadelphia…………….. 10-4
The Giants of New York………. 5–9
Commanders in Washington… 4–10
The Eagles continue to have control over their own fate in relation to the division, just as they did last week. The NFC East most certainly belongs to them if they prevail.
But it goes to Dallas, of course, if the Eagles falter and the Cowboys prevail. Furthermore, Dallas does not lose any form of pace against Philadelphia following their defeat to Buffalo (whom the Eagles defeated) because they defeated Seattle.
In addition, after three conference losses apiece, the Cowboys and Eagles are now tied. This was a turning point in the division race because of the disruption in tiebreakers, even if the Eagles are still in control. In essence, even if Philadelphia defeats the Seahawks in Week 17, this Eagles loss to them now equals Dallas’ earlier-season loss to Arizona in terms of tiebreakers.
In a succinct summary, Michael Gehlken pointed out that Dallas most likely has to end with a stronger record than Philadelphia.
Buckle up. Things are going to get intense over the final three weeks of the regular season.
