5 players who could have bigger roles for Giants in 2024
The New York Giants had a disappointing 6-11 record in 2023, failing to replicate their promising 2022 season, during which they achieved a 9-8 record, won a Wild Card playoff game, and progressed to the NFC Divisional round.
Looking ahead to 2024, they are aiming to reverse their fortunes. To accomplish this, they’ll rely on contributions from younger players on their roster who have yet to establish themselves.
Outlined below are five players expected to assume larger roles for the Giants in 2024.
Wide Receiver: Jalin Hyatt
In his rookie season, Jalin Hyatt wasn’t exactly hidden by the Giants, as he played on 50 percent of the snaps. However, there were opportunities for better utilization. Among wide receivers, only Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson saw more playing time.
Despite leading the team with an average of 16.2 yards per reception, Hyatt was targeted only 40 times, resulting in 23 catches without a touchdown.
The instability at quarterback hindered his development, as the Giants struggled to effectively pass the ball downfield, which happens to be Hyatt’s strong suit.
With the anticipated return of Daniel Jones and/or the addition of a rookie quarterback, it’s expected that Hyatt will be more prominently featured in the game plan moving forward.
