While the Dallas Cowboys have one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL, it’s apparent they must solve one glaring issue before the playoffs.

In Saturday’s 20-19 victory over the Detroit Lions (11-5), the Cowboys (11-5) rushed for 61 yards on 21 attempts, their second-lowest figure this season. Starting RB Tony Pollard has only averaged 3.5 yards per carry over his past five games, per StatMuse.

“The Cowboys are explosive on offense. We can all see that,” former head coach Jay Gruden said in a video posted to the 33rd Team’s website. “However, I’m still concerned about the one dimension right now. I still don’t think they’re getting enough out of their run game or Tony Pollard.”

Not all blame falls on Pollard. Following the win over the Lions, Dallas All-Pro right guard Zack Martin acknowledged their run blocking has room for improvement.

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, Martin stated, “Look, [Detroit has] a good run defense, but we’ve got to always be going forward.” “We are unable to start coach in those second-and-12 and second-and-11 situations with quarterback Dak Prescott. Calling plays when there are downs and distances is difficult. Therefore, we must do better up front. We need to get some good plays, even though they won’t always be home runs.”

According to FanDuel, Prescott is a strong candidate for MVP and has had some of his best football play of the year thus far. He leads the NFL in passing touchdowns (32) through 16 games played.
