Tottenham keen to sell 28-year old player to Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid is interested in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to a report from the Spanish website Mundo Deportivo. And the front-runners in the race to sign the Tottenham midfielder are the Spanish powerhouses. The club in North London will ask for €40 million in exchange for the 28-year-old’s departure.
After being unable to find a transfer away from Tottenham, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s future at the club level is questionable. Upon his arrival from Southampton three years ago, the Danish international was one of the first names on the squad sheet at the North London club. But after Ange Postecoglou arrived, his popularity decreased.
Hojbjerg, 28, has been anxious to start on a new adventure and was looking to move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since Yves Bissouma had overtaken him in the pecking order. The summer transfer window brought ties to numerous high-profile clubs, including Atletico Madrid.
However, no transfer occurred, therefore the player remained at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Since then, he has only played a minor role under Postecoglou, totaling just 170 minutes of playing time. However, the Atletico Madrid-targeted Dane is eager to leave the North London club during the January transfer window.
