Heartbroken Super Bowl.

According to Tim Graham of The Athletic, the Bills have spoken with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky about bringing him back as the team’s backup. Trubisky, 29, was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers in February, so he is free to sign with a team before free agency officially begins on March 13.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Trubisky spent one year with the Bills in 2021 after an underwhelming four years with the Chicago Bears. He appeared in six games as Josh Allen’s backup, completing six of eight passes for 43 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. After his brief stay in Orchard Park, Trubisky signed a two-year deal with the Steelers during the 2022 offseason. He started seven of the 12 games he appeared in for Pittsburgh, going 2-5 in total and 0-2 in 2023. Over his time with the Steelers, Trubisky completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 1,884 yards with eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
