Eddie Howe’s team is eager to bolster their midfield with a more defensive player, and in January, it was revealed that they might have a chance to sign Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich.

The “world class” midfield player, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, will only be open to signing with five teams, and Newcastle is not one of them.

It was always going to be a long shot, and even more so if Newcastle didn’t have Champions League football available to them, which, considering their league standing, is currently out of reach.

But going forward, those are the players who will truly have an impact; Newcastle merely needs to find individuals who are prepared to commit to this long-term goal and help the squad succeed.

Plettenberg stated on social media that FC Bayern is willing to sell Kimmich this summer if the right offer is made. JK is also open to talking with possible purchasers and isn’t ruling out making a move! Beyond 2025, there are still no firm discussions about a new contract.

This summer, Newcastle may have to move one of its alternatives on, which would be difficult for Howe given that he has only had three midfielders available at times this season, one of whom is only 17 years old.
