£500 million F1 INCREDIBLE car collection set for SALE
Bernie Ecclestone, the former Formula One (F1) chief, is preparing to sell his remarkable collection of historic race cars, valued at approximately £500 million.
Known for his pivotal role in transforming F1, Ecclestone led the sport’s commercial expansion from 1987 to 2017.
During his tenure, he secured groundbreaking television deals and introduced F1 to new markets, including China, Russia, and the Middle East.
Following Liberty Media’s acquisition of the Formula One Group in 2017, Ecclestone stepped down as CEO but remains an occasional presence on the F1 grid.
Over the course of 50 years, the 94-year-old British businessman has amassed an extraordinary collection of 69 iconic cars.
Highlights include the Ferrari F2002 driven by Michael Schumacher and the Ferrari 375 that secured Alberto Ascari’s victory at the 1951 Italian Grand Prix.
These cars represent some of the most significant moments in motorsport history.
Ecclestone has opted to part with his collection through a private treaty sale, ensuring the transactions remain confidential.
He explained his decision by stating that after decades of ownership, it is important for him to determine the future of the collection while he is still able to do so.
He also wishes to ease the potential burden on his wife in managing the collection after his passing.
“I have always focused on acquiring the best examples, and I deeply cherish these cars,” Ecclestone shared.
“However, the time has come to think about their legacy and where they will go.”
While the exact sale details are not disclosed, the collection is expected to generate significant interest, given its historical and monetary value.
This sale marks a notable chapter in the legacy of one of motorsport’s most influential figures.
